SB 1383 Short Lived Climate Pollutants

California Senate Bill 1383 was created to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by keeping organic waste out of landfills. Beginning in 2022, residents and businesses are required to separate food scraps, yard trimmings, and other organic materials from regular trash. By diverting these materials into recycling and composting programs, SB 1383 helps reduce methane emissions, fight climate change, and create nutrient-rich compost for local communities.
